Platespin Powerconvert 7.0 release is very close. There are some new features which look good, as yet I havent had the chance to get my hands on it but should be able to in the next couple of days to test it all out. The new feature list is interesting to say the least, items of note are the 64 bit support and XenServer support. Complete new feature list below.

  • Linux “anywhere to physical” (P2P, V2P) Functionality – PowerConvert provides powerful capabilities to migrate Linux workloads across physical or virtual boundaries for both 32-bit SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES 8, 9 and 10) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 3, 4 and 5).
  • Windows 64-Bit Support – PowerConvert provides Windows 64-Bit P2V support for critical Windows 2003 workloads with support for various transfer methods including Take Control, Live File Transfer and Snapshot for VMware ESX 3.x, 3.5 and Citrix XEN Enterprise 4.1.
  • Citrix XenServer Support – PowerConvert now supports X2V and V2I migrations for Citrix XenServer Enterprise 4.1. This support includes 32-bit Windows XP, 2000, 2003 and 64-bit Windows 2003.
  • Incremental Imaging Capabilities* – Now customers will be able to enhance their backup and disaster recovery functionality by producing full, incremental or fferential images. This represents tremendous savings in terms of staffing time, bandwidth and storage costs.
  • Enterprise-class Speed and Reliability – PowerConvert now provides significantly improved transfer speeds for a wide range of network types including Gigabit Ethernet networks to high-latency WAN environments – all with reliable enterprise-class workload migration functionality including Server Sync, automation and testing capabilities that minimise downtime and maximise the integrity of the workload migration.
