VMware has changed the way IT professional work today. The advantage is limitless for the creative IT professional who want to make their hands dirty at no cost, exploring all the possibilities they could ever think of. No more second thoughts and no more constraints – It’s all been made possible by VMware alone. Read more about this....
The year - 1997, and the story begins with a young boy who went for an interview with his MCSE & CNE Certifications. Bit nervous & taking a deep breathe, he entered the court room to face the judges and their series of complicated questions!!
One of the questions asked by the interviewer was - "What's the reason you've worked on two totally different IT streams - Microsoft & Novell? Does that give impression that you’re a Jack of all trades but master of none?..". This wasn’t a surprising question to be asked at that time.
The young IT professional replied, "I'm trying to see all the different colors of the rainbow, and pick the one that suits me best. Without knowing the existence of other colors, how can I just pick the one that comes first to me? To me IT is like a "tree" with many branches representing the different IT streams - OS, Application, Database etc. I love the whole "tree" and as time comes, I’ll pick the "fruit" when it’s ripe !!”.
10 years after that, In Year 2007, it's evident that all IT Streams are linked together very tightly & very closely - A mesh topology. It's very hard to see a role in any company today which only requires you to be a master in one area (unless you’re a product specialist or a programmer). IT is more "Dynamic" in nature than ever before and requires more "Dynamic" professional to sustain it.
So, what's the opportunity for me in this ever-changing IT era? How do I expose myself to the different technology which really makes sense in "practical" way? Do I need to be a master in all areas or can I consider myself to be a - "Jack of all trades"? It's hard to get time to do plenty of things which interests me so how can I learn all this different technology and still be passionate about "iT"?
There are more questions floating in the IT professionals mind as the market is much more competitive that ever before, and keeping upto-date with the latest technology is becoming more challenging.
I'm neither a sales guy nor biased towards any technology or product - No color coming out of the spectrum is less valuable. A "dynamic IT Professional" will always get excited to see the opportunity to work in a passionate way using the appropriate tools of trade.
This "passionate way" of working would have never been made possible without the most "revolutionary product" of the decade - "VMware".
"VMware" is a term I do not use for just a product - it's more than a product. You don't have to be Microsoft, Novell, Unix, Linux, SAN, NAS, Backup or Network GURU to be an expert in VMware. If you've never learned anything about hard disk cylinders or the CTLP concept, don't worry, VMware will teach you all this. In my view "VMware" is the "technology HUB". No matter what technology you've ever used or never used, you can use your existing knowledge, experience and your creativity that interests you and learn in VMware. VMware has made all this possible but acting itself as the “Technology HUB”. Plug in any technology that you’re excited about to this “HUB” and there you go!! Fly beyond the limits !!
It’s time to keep aside your differences between Oracle Vs Sybase, Microsoft Vs Novell, SAP Vs PeopleSoft, HP UX Vs AIX an so on. VMware has made it possible for the dynamic IT professional to decide which product suits them best – with virtually no fuss!! You can now create a datacenter in your workplace or at home and do whatever you want to do without physically walking to the datacenter.
Most importantly, you’re more “creative + productive” at the same time using VMware – as compared to the legacy concept of being “creative + productive + destructive”. Now, you’re no longer “destructive” because you can “snapshot” as you move forward in VMware.
So far no vendor has been able to provide only one functionality – “snapshot” your “career” as you move forward !!
Explore all the best in VMware, it’s limitless !!
