Have you ever been stuck in a situation where you could not "Connect" a Host in VirtualCenter and the status always come up with " (disconnected)" ? A very unusual error but you may get this if duplexing is hard-coded in your network switches.

After extensive research & troubleshooting, the resolution was eventually found.

On the Virtual Centre Server, follow the steps below:

Explore Network Connections

- Select "Configure" options on your network Card

- Select "Advanced" tab

- Set the "Value" of "Link Speed & Duplex" to "100Mbps/Full Duplex" (or the value as hard coded in your switch).

The above settings not only resolved the Host connection issue but also speed up the file copying / other tasks between different VM's & VC server.
