I'm just looking for simple and not to expensive backup solution for my ESX servers. I found the Trilead VM Explorer sounds quite cool (http://www.trilead.com/Products/VM_Explorer/) - I downloaded it and works fine. I just wanted to ask if some of you have more experience using this tool or any other ideas, feedback?

I would also suggest taking a look at esxpress (www.esxpress.com).

They have a free version of their backup tool that may be useful (depending on what you wish to achieve).

Their commercial offerings are well priced, and you are not stung by having great ESX Hosts (pricing is per host, and not per CPU or core).

thanks for this _link_, didn't know this tool. sounds nice, but looks to me quite expensive as you have to licence it per host. so if you have 5 ESX servers you need 5 licenses if you want the additional features, right?

That's correct. You would need to license VRanger or other products similarly, however these ones charge per sockets, rather than a host _base_d license (so, if you have REALLY great ESX hosts, you get the privilege of paying more).

At the end of the day, whatever backup solution you decide on has to meet the requirements of your environment.

Another one that may be of interest to look at is VISBU. Check out www.xtravirt.com for details. It's free, but not sure how well it is supported anymore.

i checked the site you gave me, but didn't find anything for backup. Anway I'm running now since more thant 2 weeks VM Explorer and it just works fine, and as it's free, I'll stay on that one.
